Osteopathy

Many patients seek osteopathic treatment as an alternative and more holistic solution compared to the standard western medicine given by doctors and physiotherapy. Osteopathy is based on helping your body to heal itself, rather than suppressing the symptoms.

After 5 years of studying I earned the title of Osteopath D.O. from the International Academy of Osteopathy (IAO) in 2020.

“Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine believe there’s more to good health than the absence of pain or disease. As guardians of wellness, DOs focus on prevention by gaining a deeper understanding of your lifestyle and environment, rather than just treating your symptoms.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use my insurance for this osteopathic appointment?

Yes. I am a member of the professional organization NRO. In general, there is a reimbursement for osteopathy under ‘alternative healthcare’ when you have additional health insurance.

However, every insurance policy has different conditions, so check with your particular plan to see what your possibilities are.

Should I book a sports massage or osteopathy?

If you are struggling with a particular injury or pain, and you want a more in depth focus on that, then osteopathy is recommended. Sports-massage can be a great solution to your problem as well, but the treatment will be more general than an osteopathic treatment. If you are still not sure, please contact me.

Is the first osteopathic appointment different to the follow-ups?

Yes, and no. The time for the appointment will always be the same – 60 minutes.
During your first appointment we will spend more time going through the questionnaire that you will have filled out previously online, and then doing a thorough movement assessment. That could mean that the actual hands-on treatment is a bit shorter during your first appointment than in the follow-ups. However, depending on your problem this will change a bit from person to person.

What does an osteopathic treatment look like?

Typically, a treatment is a combination of different techniques such as deep tissue and fascia release, massage and manipulations with the purpose of restoring joint mobility, reducing tension in muscles and improving blood supply to tissues.

What kind of problems can an osteopath help me with?

Many patients seek osteopathic treatment as an alternative and more holistic solution compared to the standard western medicine given by doctors and physiotherapy.

Typical conditions include:
- Chronic and acute back pain
- Neck pain and head aches
- Prevention of migraine
- Wrist pain
- Arthritic pain
- Sports injuries
- Frozen shoulder
- Tennis/golf elbow
- Sciatica
- Complementary post surgery recovery
