Sports massage

You do not have to be an Olympic athlete in order to have a sports massage, but you should expect it to be a lot deeper than your average massage. That said, I see old and young people in my clinic, from stiff “lap-top” shoulders, recovering movement after surgery, to prevention and recovery from sports issues. Together we will figure out what strategy is best for you.

Can I work out on the same day as the massage?

To get the most out of your treatment, I recommend that you do not do any sports after your massage on that day, or stick to very light active-recovery, nothing heavy. The body cannot recover and work out hard at the same time. Read more in this blog post.

Should I book a sports-massage or osteopathy?

If you are struggling with a particular injury or pain, and you want a more in depth focus on that, then osteopathy is recommended. Sports-massage can be a great solution to your problem as well, but the treatment will be more general than an osteopathic treatment. If you are still not sure, please contact me.

How long is a sports massage treatment?

By default a sports massage is always 60 minutes. Your initial treatment is 60 minutes. This will allow me to gather enough information to know how to best proceed. After that you have the option to schedule a 45/60/90 minutes session.

How many sessions do I need?

That always depends on the issue you have and how long you have had it. That said, I expect to see a change within 3-4 sessions. If you want to work preventative to stay injury free, schedule a session on a regular basis, like every 3-6 weeks, is a great idea. It is an investment in your health and life quality. Your body will thank you.

I’m pregnant. Can I have a massage?

Your body goes through a lot of changes during a pregnancy, and a massage is a great way to relieve some of the extra pressure and tension, and helping your body to adjust.
When you are no longer able to lie on your stomach, a comfortable side-lying position supported by pillows is used. Massage is possible during the entire pregnancy, unless your doctor has told you otherwise.
